Our Maple floating shelves are hand-made in any size. Free shipping, custom made in the USA to any size, ships in 10 working days. Installation hardware included. Our maple floating shelves are natural maple wood veneer on multi layered solid poplar core for ultimate strength and dimensional stability. Finished with premium quality low-sheen clear conversion varnish. All shelves are made to order. (minimum size is 3" X 9", maximum is 16"X 93") These shelves are 1-3/4” thick.

Price is per one shelf. Includes installation hardware, packaging, and free delivery within the contiguous United States.

Maple trees can be found around the globe, though the finest quality maple timbers grow in the mid-Atlantic region of north America: New England, Pennsylvania, New York, through the Appalachian mountains into North Carolina and Tennessee. Maple is a favorite of luthiers and drum makers it is prized as a tone wood for musical instruments. Its tough yet resilient character lends itself to wide use in sport flooring such as bowling alley and basketball court surfaces.

Our custom floating shelves come with our own mega strong Übermächtig hardware. Lots of advanced DIY’ers have successfully installed our shelves however keep in mind some installations may require tools and skills that are beyond most DIY’ers in which case it’s a job for a seasoned and skilled finish carpenter. Standard Floating Shelves

Standard floating shelf with our übermächtig hardware works well on an open wall application.

Wood Cleat One End

Wood cleat one end (WC1E) is a great solution when a shelf meets a wall or a cabinet and also includes our übermächtig hardware.

Wood Cleat Two Ends

Wood cleat two ends (WC2E) is a great solution when a shelf is in an alcove (walls on each side) and also includes our übermächtig hardware.

Price includes our mounting hardware. Our shelves have no visible bracket, yet are much stronger than you would expect.

Shelf is good, mount not as advertised

The Good:
Shelf came wrapped and protected better than any online purchase I have ever received. Shelf Quality is excellent. Looks Great... exact dimensions as requested. We ordered Unfinished Maple , and it came with a small extra piece so we could test our Stain. Excellent all the way around. Great workmanship.
The Bad:
Our shelf is 1.75" thick as expected. The mount is a simple a predrilled slab of wood.... which fits inside the entire shelf... with 4 holes every 16 inches that you must HOPE match your studs. Effectively this is completely useless. Our stud spacing in this wall is not 16" We assumed there would be a METAL bracket (like in the online pictures) with various predrilled holes (or drill our own) to fit the actual studs. We can't drill new holes in the mount provided (as we don't have a drill press). If I knew this was the mount configuration I would NOT have ordered this. We likely cannot mount it at all. IT is a custom size that won't fit anywhere else in the house. It may become a shelf in the garage.... which I could have gotten for 1/10 the cost (e.g. a 2x6)

In any case I can see how you might have expected one type of mount and was unprepared to see the one you received. The full information is indeed on our page however I agree we want to improve on making the different systems we use more clear. In any event you’ll be delighted to learn your shelf can very easily be installed anywhere you like with no special equipment. I ordered 3 maple paint grade shelves for new construction from Custom Floating Shelves. I have not installed the shelves yet, as we are not to that point. I will say the quality of the shelves and workmanship is awesome! I was willing to pay more for a USA made product, and for the quality. These shelves will be installed in the kitchen. I do have other places for shelves, and wanted to wait until I received the first three to make a decision on purchasing more. I definitely will be buying more shelves from Custom Floating Shelves. Again, if you want superior quality, USA made shelves, look no further!
